Oddly Shaped Heart

Kintsugi,
Kintsukuroi,

the mending weld
that lets my heart
beat on.

In the forge,
pieces welded,
bound together
by others’ gold.

A timeless dripping,
in molten drops.

The burn blocks
the pain of rending
as the heart
nearly stops.

But, I am whole.
I have a heart of gold.

Omoiyari no aru kokoro.

It beats on,
molten metal,
molten gold,
oddly-shaped,

because I am the mold.
