Her Light is Mercy

Show me a glow
from the mercy light.

A candle,
a flame,
the heat.

Please, I need it
because my heart is cold,
so cold I cannot breathe.

Set out the lantern,
your mercy light,
warm in its yellows and reds.

Cast out the shadows.

Those remnants, they will lurk,
but cast them out,
into the night,

Mercy settles
into those empty places,
where sin has vanquished light –
guilt-scars on branded faces.

The light is her gift.

Mercy sent,
so warm,
red, orange, and yellow,
the glow – forgiveness and truth.

Know the night’s betrayal
is Mercy shining
forgiveness for you.
