Sunlit – Lyrics

I wanted to turn Sunlit and Bright into a song, so here is a brief clip of what it might sound like, along with retooled lyrics. I also added a favorite line from a different poem, Sun Like a Crown.

She had eyes like the sun
as if the eclipse’s arc
had finally come and gone
but if you stare too long
your own eyes will burn

but the queen has come
yes, the queen of dawn

wears the sun like a crown
she wears the sun like a crown
there in the ether, if she deigns
to come down, I will bow.

You’ve spent an entire life
hiding in corners at night,
or behind a griever’s veil
of sorrow.

Your sight is blinded
and no light shows through,
shrug off the veil,
it is time to choose.

She had eyes like the sun
as if the eclipse’s scar
had finally come and gone
but if you stare too long
your own eyes will burn

but the queen has come
yes, the queen of dawn.

things used to be so bright
things used to be so bright
everything used to be bright
but on came the night
and on and on and on again

Sunlit and bright,
you can feel her
in reflections,
but I, for one,
am not ready
to get the

queen’s attention.
