Our Collapsing Sun

From left to right,
draw the veil of sorrows
across your eyes,
and pray that it blocks
the sight.

Our sun collapsed
somewhere in the sky,
its singular hunger
consumes all that was right…

the memories
the love
the anger
the light

…dim,
distant memories,
once golden,
now lurk behind me,
like a shuffling stranger,
following too closely
in the night.

I try to escape,

to just accelerate,

but gravity’s wish
is a simple embrace,
her crushing arms

long to hold me tight.
