Better days are
brought to you
by the rain.
Gently wash away
a hundred years
of blood, grime,
and pain.
Bright light,
and sunshine,
will heal the burns,
old, but still red,
and you’ll think back
to all the reminders
that you’d hid away
in your head.
“Don’t fall into the dark.
Don’t look behind you.
Never loosen your grip
on the threads that tie you.”
Better days were
wrought for you,
in the fire
of the forge.
A tempered soul
was wrought anew,
glowing wounds
quenched,
in the rainfall.
We’re both hurting,
but I left reminders, too,
we can howl,
from the burns,
but it soothes
to sing along
with you.
She said,
“Don’t fall too far behind.
Don’t get lost in your own mind.
Both burnt, we can howl forever,
or sing along and be fine.”
Better days
are brought to you
by the hammer’s clang
on the forge.
You’ve worked
too hard,
for far too long,
in this rain,
our pain is cooled,
and I say,
“We’re going to be fine.
We’re going to be fine.
We still glow enough
to see a little shine.”
“I’m going to be fine.
You’re going to be fine.
We still glow bright enough
to find a little of our light.”
